Warning as oil thieves hit again

Rural properties and businesses have been hit by oil thieves and have had their tanks emptied for the second time.  Kent police revealed homes in Bethersden, Westwell, Hythe and Stellis Minnis have been hit.  It is advised to check tank levels every other day and note the level.  Police have warned homeowners to lock their gates, yards and install lockable caps where possible.  CCTV and security lighting could also help along with random mobile patrols. Another safety measure is to consider planting thorny shrubs around your tank.  Install lockable caps with crop-proof padlocks  and where possible provide vulnerable fuel hoses with hardened casings.
